Ok, so I'm a geek. I freely admit to it! Just remember, when you're website is going crazy or you need it to do something past static pages... who ya gonna call?
CyberNet 2010

Last year I did a recap of CyberNet, so it seems only fitting I do one again. This was my second CyberNet and a TOTALLY different experience than last year. Different in that it was no longer my first time and I was able to stay for the entire show. Being able to stay for the entire show was HUGE! I got in on two days of sessions last year, but had to miss the third day and missed all the parties last year.
For anybody who has ever been on the fence about attending CyberNet, it's past time to get off the fence. Of course now, you have to wait another year. It's pretty simple, CyberNet is the best opportunity for education in the Adult industry, targeting what you need to know as a webmaster to be successful.
The other key part to attending CyberNet and other shows is the chance to network and actually meet people you only talk with on boards from a distance. That is where my 2010 CyberNet Experience started. Talking with friends and networking to make some new contacts.
It helps to know one or two people who seem to know everybody, and that's Oceania - girl knows EVERYBODY! Hooked up with her and Housekeeper before the show on Wednesday afternoon. We helped stuff the attendees bags for a while and then headed out to dinner. It was a great way to relax before the show actually began. And trust me... I needed to do some relaxing...
Thursday morning, I was the first presenter for the show. I've done plenty of presentations before and teach a couple college courses, but it's always a little nerve wracking the first time you present someplace new... is it the right material? Will anybody be interested? Is the material too basic? Is the material too much? Do I have enough material to fill the time or will I have to rush to finish? I HATE feeling like I'm not prepared for something like this, so I was tweaking the presentation right up until it was time to head to the meeting room. BUT! when I left for the meeting room, I finally felt like I was set to go.
Regardless of feeling set to go, I was feeling more than a little pressure being the lead off speaker. What if I bombed and set a negative tone for the show?!
Not only would I screw myself up, but I'm representing our AF247 board! No fuckups allowed!
When the session got started, there may have been 15 people in the room. I decided that if that's all that were interested, well... we'd have some fun and hopefully they would learn a thing or two. Within a few minutes, I was rolling along and people were also rolling into the session. By the time it was all done, the room was pretty much full. Got enough questions after I finished my material to feel good that I hit the right mark with what material I presented. I also had people talking with me about it the next two days, so it felt like it was received well.
Next up was my old buddy KevinG, talking about WordPress for more than blogging purposes. He did great job! We did a lot of hanging out in three days. Kevin is always fun to be around. That first morning, some new people also started talking with me. PinupsOnFilm (aka: Al) made it to the show from Florida. He quickly became part of the AF247 traveling show. My Main Man Housekeeper was there and we met a gal who simply had "Boobs" on her badge. Of course, I immediately liked her
Hopefully she will get her butt over here and join soon. And of course, SaschaIllyvich was part of our roving mob too, adding his own special flair.
The remaining Thursday sessions were very good. There was also lunch provided and a Roaring 20's party in the evening. For sure, opening day was a pretty friggn big success!
In my CyberNet world, day 2 was a relax day - mainly because I wasn't presenting at any point. It was another good day of sessions with lots of high quality information and another lunch scoring high on the yum scale. Dinner Friday was a special treat. Our own Housekeeper knew a hidden Chinese restaurant only a block away. Even Boobs who lives close didn't know about this place. Turns out though, that a lot of locals eat there, so that's always a good sign. Turned out to be low cost, HUGE portions and GREAT food! Talk about a perfect combination!
I know I ate too much, but it was just that good.
The Friday party was a Hip Hop Rap jam that was a bit loud for me, but I got there just in time for the open bar, so it was all good.
BIG thanks to MojoHost for being so generous with everybody!
Saturday was more of the same - high quality sessions with good speakers and a party to look forward to at the end of the day. Only thing missing was a lunch...
I was on the writing and blogging panel in the afternoon, and let me tell you... I was more nervous about that one than being the show lead off speaker. I think it was because I was the only person up there who wasn't a professional writer... I tried to be the alternate opinion, that you don't have to be a professional writer to use a blog and write and you can just use a blog as a CMS. Always the oddball...
The panel went really well though, so well, nobody really noticed that we went WAY over our time limit.
Friday dinner was mostly the same group and another great time. We went a little more upscale and did it up right. Another great time with good friends.
Now... the Saturday night party... can you say... OFF THE HOOK?! And I do literally mean OFF THE HOOK! It was sponsored by Kink.com and at one point, there were two ladies tied together, both with their own hooks in their asses
The party was held at their studio, so you got to explore some of the sets they use, there was an open bar and of course, the live shows that were going on pretty much the entire time. Amazing to say the least. I think I'll be recovering from that one the rest of the week!
From our AF247 standpoint, I'm very happy with how things turned out. I got about 240ish pens handed out with our URL, about 70ish cards with the forum and AdultArticles247 URL on them and more then a few business cards. I was also able to plug both the board and article site, hopefully without being too annoying about it. What struck me for AF247, was that there were really three boards I saw represented - YNot, MP and AF247. Talk about being in good company!
HUGE congrats to Jay and Connor for putting on such an amazing industry event. CyberNet will continue to be on my calendar every year and I can only hope that I can continue to contribute to the event each year. To all my friends, old and new, it was great to meet new people and to see old friends again. Quick last shout out to a couple others I spent time talking with, Miss Ella with JuicyAds and Abbie who is working on a new project with PlayPen. Sorry to the people I'm not mentioning, there were so many and I didn't get everybody's names engraved in my brain.
If you weren't there this year, hopefully you'll be able to be there next year!
