I think the heading about sums up what most feel

Quote:
Google search displays only 13% organic results – the rest is ads and junk
but still the lemmings keep using this SHIT SE ........But I am seeing an increase on bing and even getting traffic from Duck now, but its not turning around fast enough for me!!! clearly people are getting pissed with scrolling though pages of crap results before finding results and you can see this by looking at your own stats when you see clicks on pages that are ranking on the 3rd page onwards

Bings results are 100% spot on and whilst they may only have 25% of the data G holds its clear the other 75% they have is shit and totally non relevant.....I honestly think we could start to see G loosing its market stranglehold

Despite Microsoft’s increased efforts to dethrone Google, the company still controls a majority of the search market. Hundreds of millions of people use Google to search the Web on a daily basis. One entrepreneur has argued that Google’s search engine isn’t as efficient as it should be, however. Aaron Harris, co-founder of the website Tutorspree, noted that “Google won search by providing the best organic results users had ever seen.” But since then, the company has begun to replace organic results with “revenue generating Google products.” In fact, Harris calculates that real search results only account for 13% of screen real estate above the fold when searching Google with a 13-inch laptop. He noted that Google’s Adwords account for 29% of the page, while a Google Map takes up 7% and the navigation bar occupies 14% of the page.

This is what I've been saying and the below quote substantiates it

"the company has begun to replace organic results with “revenue generating Google products

Google is in the business of making $ for Google, period. Not only are many of my sites completely knocked off the map, when I do my own searches it is exactly what is described. Bottom line is you can't trust Google for quality results, you can't.

The problem again is this, and I've said it before. "Google it!" is embedded into the cultures consciousness the same as "got milk" or "where's the beef". If IE and some other browsers didn't have Bing installed as the default engine, NO ONE would activity go to the bing website to use their SE.

At this point if you're a serious searcher and you need sound results for what specifically you're looking for, you have to go 4 - 5 pages deep.

agree...but I'm seeing a change here and people are getting pissed with G

I was talking to a friend a couple of days ago and without any prompting "honest" he asked me what has Google done as I had to look through pages to find what I was looking for ....I prompted him that there was another SE and hes now a Bing user

Bingit

I've gotten so used to using G, and much of that is for keyword research and search term checking, that I don't access the other SE's. I can't say I'm completely sold on Bing yet, but I do need to do some research on them for my own terms.

I suspect it will be a while before G feels any competition, but I do see Bing results show up a lot in my stats. It will have to sink into the social consciousness, but if your friend is noticing the change hopefully others will follow suit.

thats because Bing is better

For years G has been bleating that they fully crawl the net and billions of pages within its database, problem is 75% of pages are non relevant spam and shit...Panda WAS supposed to have put that right but all they did was remove quality and whats left is a SE that only offers quality paid adverts!! now its true to say thats probably what G wanted in the first place, but its a fact that people do not like adverts or clicking on ads which is why Bing is pulling ahead, albeit very slowly

Of all the SE's Bing has the best chance to make an impact, due of course to Windows making it the default browser.

I'm all for it, I've gotten screwed in crucial situations trying to search for solutions using G.
