Wordpress is now beta testing (or will be shortly) a new service, that should cost about $10 a month, that will update the blog, keep the plugins & themes from adding bad code etc. In short it is like hiring a security guard to do your updates for you, and to keep it safe by installing fixes as they come available, including what they call 'hot fixes'.

Might be something for you Tigger, to get you current and not so far behind in your updates. And supposedly it won't matter how many security updates happen, this service supposedly does it as they come available. Course it won't help you change your undies, but heck, can't have everything

I've signed up to test it on one of my adult blogs, so we'll see if accepted, and if it works.

is that $10/mo/blog? That could add up rather quickly...

wonder if they are also going to take responsibility for getting the blog back up and running if/when an update craps out and screws over the code...

Doesn't say if that is per blog, for now it looks like possibly. And according the brief info, yes it does mean they will monitor and restore the blog to operating status if screwed up by code and such, though I don't know what that'll do for custom tweaked blogs.

Right now just beta, so am hoping to see how it will work, what it will do, and if they'll even take adult, or if they scrutinize that aspect.

In the sign up, they do ask what you'd pay for multiple blogs, I kept it at $10

bloody hell they don't give much away do they! - suppose we'll have to wait till its ready for full launch to get break down on costs

I wouldn't have a problem a paying just not the $10 per site as that would be silly money.

I can't see them offering it with that type of charging structure as most webmasters will have at a few blogs - I've got 20 and I'm still a newbie at the blogging lark

exactly - the pros have hundreds. That would add up far too quickly. You could hire somebody at $10/hr when needed and it would be less than half that cost.
